foranapplication,ratherthandoingouractual
Fortunately,thereisasolution.
TaskbarHelperisalittlesoftwareutilitythat
allowsuserstogetridofthe
"too-many-applications-in-the-taskbar"problemandit
doessoinacleanandsmartway:youcaneitherhide
applicationsfromvieworminimizetosystemtray
(nearthesystemclock)wheretheysitassmallicons
waitingfortheusertobringthemup.Belowyoucan

Whenyoufindyourselfwithtoomanyapplicationsin
thetaskbar,simplyuseTaskbarHelpertogetridof
theclutter.Theprogramlistsallapplications,or
systemwindowsthatarecurrentlyopenonthedesktop
andprovidesthreeoptionsascheckboxesforeach
process:ShowinSysTrayonHide,HideonMinimize,
HideWindowsfromTaskbarOnly.Bytickingthese
checkboxes,youcancreatearulethatdefineshowa
windowbehaveswhentheuserclicksontheMinimize
buttononthewindowtitlebar,orpressesaspecific
hotkey.Oncetheruleisset,youcanforgetabout
andmanipulatewindowswithouteveropeningTaskbar
Helper.
Forexample,youcancheckHideonMinimizeand
SysTrayonHideforOutlookExpress,andwhennext
timeyouclicktheMinimizetitlebutton,theprogram
willminimizetosystemtrayinsteadofthetaskbar.
ThiswayminimizedOutlookremainsrunninginthe
backgroundbutdoesnottakespaceonthetaskbar.
whenyouneedit,simplydouble-clicktheiconinthe
systemareaandOutlookwindowappearsonthedesktop.
Thesamebehaviorcanbeappliedtoother
thatyouneedtokeeprunninginthebackgroundas
